Creative SMACKDOWN.

Last night, several Ferris State University Graphic Design students attended the Creative Smackdown http://www.creativesmackdownusa.com/ in Grand Rapids.

Two juniors, Troy Rojewski and Trevor Dobias, presented their work for judging, and won second and third in the design category, respectively. Allison Platt, Jessie Schwartz, and Stacey Dashner presented the newly launched FSU Graphic Design website and won first place in the web/motion graphics category! Congratulations to everyone who worked on the site!

It felt great to support my classmates and their endeavors. I am so proud of everyone who participated as well. I wish that I would have attended the Smackdown last year. It was a good experience to see the process of the competition, and I feel that many of the juniors who attended would likely feel more confident to present something next year—I wish I could!

It was obvious that having a defined message, as well as being able to articulate a clear concept, was important to the judges. There was some interesting work, but the Ferris students basically dominated the whole thing. Nothing against students from the other schools, but I project even more Ferris wins next year.
